Hot Coins – You Can’t Pray For Your Soul – out now on Untracked Records
Due to some bizarre timing, I have another EP out this week. This time it’s a much more Detroit beatdown style thing and it’s out on Untracked Records, Atlantic Conveyors label. The vinyl package is pretty special with beautiful bespoke artwork by Joseph Seresin, embossed sleeves, 180 gram vinyl and it’s limited so will disappear pretty quickly.
‘You Can’t Pray For Your Soul’ is 96bpm deep chugging house music which contains quasi religious vocal samples and genuine Detroit vibes. The flip ‘Christmas Day’ was made from jazz CDs picked out by my dad on Christmas Day 2007. It’s an interesting track – it starts out on some kind of wonky cut up hip hop flex before mutating into dark jazzy house and ends on a deep note. It’s available to buy from Piccadilly, Phonica, Juno. They will be the only stockists in the UK.
