Firstly please accept my apologies for the lack of radio show in the last month. Various reasons including moving house, heavy deadlines, being on holiday and setting up the label have prevented me from recording the radio show. But fear not, The Smugglers Inn returns on Wednesday 1st of September with a very tasty Al Kent guestmix.

This weekend is a busy one for me gigs wise so here goes..

Then on Sunday 29th August I will be heading down to London for the More About Music Notting Hill Carnival Jam which is held at the Fat Badger Pub on Portobello Road. I am playing from 6-7.30pm. There’s some really cool people appearing including ex Specials legend Jerry Dammers, Wbeeza, Souled, Nick V from Paris and ex Goya man Nick Rees. Full info can be found HERE

Then on the same day (yes) I will be heading back up to Nottingham on the 9pm train to play with Chris Coco at the Audiophile Bank Holiday BBQ. The event is held at the Pitcher and Piano, which is undoubtedly one of Nottinghams most unique venues. It used to be a church! Full info on the event is HERE. I will be playing from 1-2am so it should be a fine way to end the weekend.

The Early Years out on 27/09/10

I will be releasing my first artist album The Early Years on my new label Bergerac on 27/09/10. It’s a selection of the best tracks from my various singles on Untracked, Tirk, Society, Deep Freeze and Undertones plus some new ones as well. The artwork is all sourced from family photos circa 1985-1990 as a metaphor for the early years of my music production.

It’s had some nice news pieces on it on Resident Advisor Electronic Beats and Juno

How I Program out on 06/09/10

As you may remember, I am starting my new label Bergerac in September with the release of the How I Program EP.

Each release will feature bespoke artwork from German illustrator Silke Eiselt. I asked her to draw pictures of all the houses I have lived in chronologically. How much more fucking HOUSE can you get than that?

The artwork is impressionist style btw so try checking out the graphics from a distance and it becomes clearer and clearer.

It’s been getting great feedback from people like Gilles Peterson, Jazzanova, Motor City Drum Ensemble, Atjazz, 2562, Jimpster, Simbad, Robert Owens, Andre Lodeman etc…and you can hear a preview of each track in the soundcloud player below.

Well that’s July over and it’s definitely been the best month of the year so far for me. I am still on a high from the Garden Festival in Croatia (and now Freerotation too), so on this show I played a few things which went down well in Croatia and rambled on a bit about it all. I don’t get out much. What can I say?

The show contains a bloody marvelous guestmix from The Kelly Twins who promote their own ace clubnight UFO and also run Best Before with Sell By Dave and are often described as ‘robots’ on the decks due to their intense skills and stamina.

I first heard of the Kelly Twins when Bristol edit head Sell By Dave (of Bedmo Disco) put me onto their fricking top drawer ‘Don’t Smoke Crack’ live electro mix. After much searching I found the link too – check it out HERE.

Garden Festival

Anyone who’s gonna be there – I am really pleased to be making my debut at this years Garden Festival in Croatia with 3 appearances.

I will be playing at the Garden in Zadar on Thu 8th July with Ron Basejam, Andre Schmoov and a few more people from Nottingham no doubt. Then on Friday 9th I am playing on the Basement Boogaloo Boat Party from 7pm. Then on Sat 10th I will be playing at the Tiki Bar and Beach Terrace from 4-6pm. BRING IT!
