The Early Years out on 27/09/10

I will be releasing my first artist album The Early Years on my new label Bergerac on 27/09/10. It’s a selection of the best tracks from my various singles on Untracked, Tirk, Society, Deep Freeze and Undertones plus some new ones as well. The artwork is all sourced from family photos circa 1985-1990 as a metaphor for the early years of my music production.

It’s had some nice news pieces on it on Resident Advisor Electronic Beats and Juno

How I Program out on 06/09/10

As you may remember, I am starting my new label Bergerac in September with the release of the How I Program EP.

Each release will feature bespoke artwork from German illustrator Silke Eiselt. I asked her to draw pictures of all the houses I have lived in chronologically. How much more fucking HOUSE can you get than that?

The artwork is impressionist style btw so try checking out the graphics from a distance and it becomes clearer and clearer.

It’s been getting great feedback from people like Gilles Peterson, Move D, Jus Ed, 2562, Robert Owens and Atjazz and you can hear a preview of each track in the soundcloud player below.

Red Rack’em – How I Program EP – Bergerac 001 by Red Rack’em

The vinyl mastering was by Shane @ Final Tweek and Digital Mastering was by Chris @ Blacklisted.

It’s out on vinyl on 06/09/10 and digital will be about a month later. Distribution is by Kudos.

Well that’s July over and it’s definitely been the best month of the year so far for me. I am still on a high from the Garden Festival in Croatia (and now Freerotation too), so on this show I played a few things which went down well in Croatia and rambled on a bit about it all. I don’t get out much. What can I say?

The show contains a bloody marvelous guestmix from The Kelly Twins who promote their own ace clubnight UFO and also run Best Before with Sell By Dave and are often described as ‘robots’ on the decks due to their intense skills and stamina.

The rest of the show contain some pretty corking new sounds from the likes of Office Gossip (this totally smashed it on the Boogaloo Boat party in Croatia), Funkineven getting all acid house, Erbeerchnitzles new hip hop project, brand new Spandex remixing Seetheroad, brand new Lone getting all ravey again plus something from my forthcoming Bergerac label.

The Kelly Twins

I first heard of the Kelly Twins when Bristol edit head Sell By Dave (of Bedmo Disco) put me onto their fricking top drawer ‘Don’t Smoke Crack’ live electro mix. After much searching I found the link too – check it out HERE.

Garden Festival

Bit of a different show this time. I was having a much needed break at my parents house in Scotland last week so I couldn’t record the show as normal. The show is a live mix special. The first 1.5 hours is the recording of my set at Freestyle at the Bulls Head in Moseley from the 24th April 2010.

The last half an hour is taken from the start of my set I played in Saltwater, Nottingham on 28/10/07 when I had the honour of supporting Move D. I was very in the zone at this gig due to a hectic weekend and I am really pleased it got recorded.
