NEW RECORD DEAL
I am pleased to announce that I have got a new Hot Coins EP coming out on the mighty Tirk Recordings at the end of November. The Valiant Truth EP is a 4 tracker of mixed tempo house, cosmic and disco vibes. The tracks included on the EP are – Valiant Truth, Whole New Way, Jazz Ending and Favourite Effects. Eagle eared podcast listeners may have heard some of these tracks already..
I have also remixed the Larry Levan classic Stand On The Word by the Joubert Singers in a wonky electro boogie style – this will be out on a white label fairly soon too.
NEW RECORDS COMING SOON
I have also just completed a remix of Cantonese Man by Portugese producer Rui Maia. This will be coming out on Atlantic Conveyors label Untracked. The original is a very cool slice of nu romantic tinged disco which I have souped up and dubbed out. It should be out very soon…
The next release on Untracked (after the Rui Maia EP) will be me on my own under the Hot Coins pseudonym. The A side is You Can’t Pray For Your Soul which I have played on a few radio shows. It’s a low slung slo mo beatdown number with quasi religious vocal samples. The flip is Christmas Day which I made on Christmas day back at my parents house using jazz cds that my dad picked out. Both tracks are pretty housey and I am excited at the potential of getting a few more records out before the end of the year. This EP should be out by the end of October.

SMUGGLERS INN CHAPTER 8 @ Saltwater, Nottingham – 03/10/08
The Smugglers Inn returns to Saltwater in Nottingham on Friday 3rd of October from 8pm – 2am and we are pleased to announce that a very special DJ will be joining Red Rack’em on the night.
Rob J is a well seasoned DJ/Producer from Birmingham who is well respected on the cosmic/balearic/eclectic scene.
Rob has been involved in many different areas of the club scene over the last 3 decades. He was one of the original Venus crew here in Notts. He co-promoted the much missed Bam Bam night in Brum which brought the likes of Lindstrom, Prins Thomas, Idjut Boys, Mudd, Moonboots, Lowlife etc to the Rainbow Pub in Digbeth. His recent production as part of Main Stem (check http://www.myspace.com/themainstem for tunes) has gained the respect of major players like Prins Thomas, Bill Brewster and Chicken Lips.
Rob also currently runs the Dropout Boogie night in Moseley with some bloke called Mark E. Rob is a scholar of good music and has promised a selection that will ‘blow my mind’. I cannae wait as they say back where I came from…
I have also got a few records coming out soon so I will be looking forward to dropping some of the new Hot Coins tracks at Saltwater. You can hear the new stuff here – http://www.myspace.com/redrackem
Expect to hear funk, disco, hip hop, jazz, house, nu disco, balearic, cosmic, post punk, krautrock, broken beat, rock, techno, electro, new wave etc….
