Coins 001 – Ron Basejam/Wave Machines Hot Coins Remix Twelve Clips by Red Rack’em

So at long last here’s the Hot Coins remixes of ‘Voices’ by Ron Basejam (aka Crazy P keyboard maestro Jim Baron) and ‘Greatest Escape We Ever Made’ by Wave Machines (Liverpudlian alt pop gurus). Neither have been available on vinyl before but fortunately the artists were happy for a limited white label style record to ‘appear’ in the shops. Both tracks were mixed in rural Austria during the Hot Coins album mixing sessions on the original SSL 4000 B Series desk from Londons Townhouse studios. PiLs Metal Box album and ‘In The Air Tonight’ by Phil Collins were both mixed on this very desk and I think the sound is a real step up from previous Hot Coins releases. DJ support comes from a wide range of jocks including Tim Sweeney, Axel Boman, Jazzanova, Catz and Dogz and Ashley Beedle

The remix EP is available to buy at Juno, Phonica, Boomkat, Decks and plenty of other places across the globe.

2012 will see the release of the debut Hot Coins album (provisionally titled ‘Geek Emotions’) so this release is a little taste of what’s yet to come.

I wrote an Afro techno style track called Kalimba several years ago in Nottingham and when I played it to my friend David Crimson during a visit to Budapest he responded by saying that he thought Dixon and Ame might be into it. I sent it to Kristian and promptly forgot about it. Fast forward a few years to April 2011 and it popped up in an Ame Vs Dixon DJ set which was broadcasted on YouFM.

It turned out that they had been playing it in DJ sets for a while and it’s now available on the latest Philomena release, which is the Innervisions vinyl only label. It was mastered at Calyx so it sounds really cool. The artwork (courtesy of Frank from Ame) is mental as well. Embossed and with a second shiny layer of patterns over the sleeve. It’s definitely the poshest record I have ever been on. The other track on the release is a Marcus Worgull remix of Fink.

Right now it’s exclusively available from Muting The Noise but I think it will pop up in a few other shops in the next few weeks.

I am currently in a residential studio in Austria mixing the Hot Coins album on the SSL 4000 B series desk that PiL used to record their famous Metal Box album at Londons legendary Townhouse studio.

In this video I am mixing the track ‘Leathered’ and I solo a few tracks to show what some of the parts in the track comprise of.

Red Rack’em – Feel My Tears EP Clips – BERG002 by Red Rack’em

The second single on Bergerac ‘Feel My Tears’ is now available from all digital stockists.

It’s available from Juno Boomkat Whatpeopleplay Beatport and all other decent digital stockists.

The single has been well received with DJ support from Francois Kevorkian, Ame, Jazzanova, Charles Webster, The Revenge, Dixon, 2562/A Made Up Sound, Simbad, Jimpster and a whole load of other top DJs.

Resident Advisor also gave it a nice review.

My new single Feel My Tears was released today. It’s the second vinyl release on my label Bergerac and I am really pleased with how it’s come out.

It was quite hard to complete the record as it was finalized during my last days in the UK and I was feeling quite a lot of pressure to come up with something fresh after How I Program. Although I am really glad it’s finally in the shops, I can also remember how stressful it was trying to finish the tracks. It was a turbulent time for me and you can hear that in the music.

It’s currently being stocked in UK shops such as Juno, Phonica, Piccadilly and Boomkat and it should be in mainland Europe shops by the end of this week. The digital release will be in around 3 weeks.

I have a new track called Fellini on a split twelve called ‘On The Corner Vol 1′ out now on Cortelyou Road Recordings, a new label from Brooklyn. Alex Agore, James Duncan and Native Sound also feature on the EP, so it’s a real mixed bag of house vibes.

The EP is available from Juno and should be all over Europe pretty soon.

Red Rack’em – Fellini by Red Rack’em

Fellini as the name suggests is inspired by Italian film soundtracks such as La Dolce Vita. I don’t spend my time watching a lot of movies of that nature but the music on the few I have seen has always stuck with me just as much as the visual imagery.

I have got a track on a split artist twelve on a new label called Cortelyou Road Recordings coming straight out of Brooklyn. The label is run by Native Sound (Soul People Music, Minuendo). who features on the twelve alongside James Duncan (Le Systeme, Real Soon) and Alex Agore (4lux, Royal Oak). My offering is called Fellini and is totally influenced by Italia erotica and easy listening soft porn bossanova music. Not that I ever watch those kind of films of course, but I tried to give my track an exotic and cinematic grand production sound. It’s quite a different vibe for me I think.
