I did four hours of exercise and managed to record 2 mixes on Wednesday. Check me out! Predictably, I ache all over now and have trouble climbing the stairs but after East Village last week (which was effing ace) I was raring to go on the mix front, which is a rare thing for me.

One of the mixes was for the Shift guys who are releasing my tracks Underground/Exhalt as the first single on their label.

It’s all house and techno – some unreleased stuff and some classics.

On the 10th October 2009, I had the pleasure of playing at an ace warehouse party in my own home town of Nottingham which was organised by the Loveunlimited guys. The party was a massive success with the old Nash Carpet shop being amazingly decorated and covered with visuals – a suitably bohemian vibe ensued…

I was asked to play the final set from 3.30 until 5.30 in the upstairs room which had a crisp sounding Funktion One installed in it. I went on after Richard Norris and set about playing loads of house and techno and tried to take full advantage of the ace sound, people, surroundings and atmosphere.

It’s proper stomping house and techno and includes tracks by Move D, Juju and Jordash, Chateau Flight, Wah-Chu-Ku, Linkwood, Rick Wade, A Made Up Sound, See The Road, Pepe Bradock, Ibex, Chez Damier, I Cube, Lerosa, Spandex and many more…

Big Chill Bison Stage Set Now Online

My DJ set from the Frisky Bison stage on Sunday 9th August at the Big Chill Festival is now available to stream from the Red Bull Music Academy Radio station site. I played on the Frisky Bison stage on Sunday 9th August 2009 before the Futureboogie guys and Greg Wilson. It was great – there were plenty of people I knew in the crowd and I had a funny moment when I realised it was being streamed live from the festival as Sam Floating Points texted me to say that he was listening back home in London!

As with the Big Chill Radio set, I am not going to do a tracklist for this mix – so you will have to listen to it to find out what I played! It contains tracks by Linkwood, Karizma, Solid State, Motor City Drum Ensemble, Frank Booker, Parallel Dance Ensemble, Theo Parrish and Zed Bias amongst others. It’s a mixed up affair with disco, house, electro, garage and broken beat vibes all represented.

Big Chill Radio Station DJ Set Now Online

Some of you may know that I played 2 sets at The Big Chill Festival earlier this year. This is the second set which was recorded at the Big Chill FM radio station from 2-4am on the morning of Monday 10th August. I was one of the last things on at the festival so there was a massive crowd outside and the atmosphere was ace!

The Big Chill have published a news piece about it and have hosted the mix on their website so you can stream it or download it from HERE.

The crowd were amazing – great to see a lot of people below 20 getting down to stuff like Ron Trent/Chez Damier and vintage Zed Bias.

As it’s a live recording I haven’t done a tracklist but it contains all sorts really – house, techno and disco from people like Chez Damier, Ron Trent, I Cube, YSE, Floating Points, Lindstrom, Eagle by Linkwood, Rick Wade, Bleep District, Kelley Polar, Juju and Jordash plus broken garage stuff from people like El B, Martyn, Solid Groove, Seiji, Zed Bias, Simbad and many more. Basically it’s pretty banging 4am end of festival stuff.

I am putting it on the site too for the podcast subscribers so there’s the usual media player below this post. I will return to the normal radio show format next Wednesday.

The Picnic EP came out on Deep Freeze about a month ago complete with a quality remix by The Revenge and it has now been released digitally. It’s exclusively available from Juno Download HERE. The vinyl has been really well received so far with loads of interest all over the world due to it’s straight up housey nature. Futureboogie have asked me to join their very cool agency. This is great news as they represent quite a few of my musical heroes including Crazy P, Domu, Mad Mats and Atjazz. I have put together a new DJ mix for their site to commemorate this fine moment in time. As they are a pretty eclectic bunch I pretty much threw the ruddy kitchen sink in.

I have been really enjoying mashing up different genres recently again as it’s more fun to mix them I reckon. So after a disco/boogie start on here it soon slips into house/broken/afro/2 step/detroit/postpunkelectro/techno territory… the end is particularly wild – anyone for some UK garage new wave electro?
